Quintin Stephens, former U.S. Marine, is a world class wheelchair athlete.

Quintin
inspires Vets who come home from Afghanistan & Iraq with horrible injuries.  He helps them to dream again, to live a better, more fulfilled life.

Quintin is a former Marine sergeant who received an honorable discharge after four years of service.  A year later, he suffered an automobile accident that rendered him a C-5 C-6 quadraplegic.  Doctors predicted Quintin wouldn't be able even to dress or feed himself, much less ever participate in an athletic event.

Members of the Paralyzed Veterans of America encouraged Quintin to rise above his doctors' dire predictions.  Inspired by his fellow veterans, by his faith in God, and by his father, Houston (1929-2006), Quintin began wheelchair training.

Years later, Quintin is now at a level of athletic ability reached by very few in the world, having won several hundred gold medals and holding several national records.

His dream now is to forge a place for himself on the U.S. Paralympic Team that will compete in London, England in 2012.  This is an inspiring goal to all, but especially to those veterans similarly injured in the U.S. or in Iraq & Afghanistan.

Quintin says, "When you're at the C-5 C-6 level, you will be in an electric wheelchair unless you do what I did - just refuse to give up and just push and use what you have."

He adds, "A lot of times when you have a spinal cord injury of this magnitude, you're up one day and down another, and it's very hard and difficult to deal with.  You're going to have some bumpy roads, but if you stick with it and have a positive attitude, you can accomplish many things that you think you can't do."

This gold medal winner has deep calluses on his hands and has to wear an abdominal binder to help with breathing.  Yet, a training regimen of +-6 miles a day keeps him in shape to surpass athletes often 20+ years younger.  Other paralyzed veterans look at him and think, "If he can do it, then I can do it."

Quintin has been a strong supporter of many Veteran & Athletic organizations, including the International Institute Of Sport, where he recently donated a racing wheelchair for Haitian disabled athletes.  He presently serves the IIOS as a consultant to track & field athletes with spinal cord injuries.

If you are inspired by Quintin, you can assist him to inspire others similarly challenged - Quintin participates in athletic events only by the grace of donated funds.  Donations go SOLELY toward one end - transportation/lodging/food for wheelchair athletic events, one of which could soon be Quintin's dream - the 2012 Paralympics in London.

Donations (checks) can be made simply to "QUINTIN STEPHENS" and sent to his Garland address - 317 LOS SANTOS DR, GARLAND, TX 75043.
